Narrative Essay Narrative essay Cooking with my mother Some of my fondest childhood memories have been shared cooking with my mother in our small kitchen. Coming from a big family it was always important that there was enough food and food that everybody liked. My mother knew every ones favorite dishes and things that we didn’t like. She is an amazing cook and always had me help especially with holiday dinners one in particular always sticks out in my flood of memories. It was thanksgiving and I was eleven my mother woke me up at seven in the morning and told me I had to help her cook. She never did this before I used to wake up later and maybe cut a few carrots and celery for the stuffing she would make on the stove this was different. I complained like a bratty preteen and asked why I was waking up and she told me that I had to learn to cook one day and why not on thanksgiving. Forcing my self down the staircase into the kitchen and sitting on one of the many stools surrounding the island. She pulled out the twenty-eight pound turkey and rinsed it off and pulled all the giblets out. I remember trying not to grimace because my mother was one to tease you about those types of things. I started cutting up the carrots and celery while my mom got the breadcrumbs and cranberries. I’d occasionally ask why don’t you measure anything and it was always the same answer â€Å"because I know by eyeballing it†. Next she had me stuff this bread crumby mush into the turkey. Then Covered him in butter, salt, and lemon pepper and it was ready to go into the oven. She smiled and said I did a great job. The rest of the stuff was easy squash, potatoes, corn, and green beans. That day I found a new respect for my mom and cooking. She always made every ones plate knowing the portions and dishes we all would want. Now I always help her with the cooking for every occasion and have even tweaked some of he recipes to put my own spin on them. I cant wait for the day that I make my mother a whole dinner and amaze her like she has amazed me through the years.

The results show certain patterns and trends, for example the test where the acid was at 14 C the magnesium took 141 seconds to react and 27 C test took 73 seconds to react. This shows roughly that if you double the temperature then the reaction time will half. The reason that when the hydrochloric acid was at 14 C the reaction time for all the magnesium to react was 141 seconds was because the molecules of the acid and magnesium didn’t have a lot of kinetic energy, so there was not much movement therefore there were not many successful collisions. Successful collisions are when the molecules contain enough kinetic energy to collide forcefully enough to break the bonds between the hydrogen and the chloride particles this needs to take place for any reaction to happen. Everyone has their own personal ethics, for me this means being honest to my self in everything I do. I use my personal ethics to help in making choices that affect every aspect of my life. Personal ethics for me mean that I choose to be who I am and don’t let others effect the way I think or behave. Ethics are what makes us who we are and how we react to situations. In school it is important to have personal ethics, this helps us to be honest, uphold the academic integrity, and be able to follow the rules that are set for us. When at work, home or while dealing with others your personal ethics come into play. People don’t even realize that they use these every day to make choices that will affect them. I always think before I say something and how it will affect the other person. There are some who do not do this however, and for them their personal ethics are different. I find it hard to understand those who do not have the same kind of personal ethics as myself. I know the reason why others do not think as I do, but it is hard to understand when someone is mean or dishonest and thinks nothing of it. I have always tried to be an honest and caring person. I take care of others and I am responsible for a lot of their personal items. I have to deal with small amounts of their money, cell phones, clothing, and jewelry every day. Without my ethics I would think nothing of taking things that didn’t belong to me. I know that I have had coworkers who have done this and I hate that it happened. They of course are no longer working here. It amazes me that people have bad personal ethics that they can even think about doing something to someone who has been placed in their care. I will as long as I live use my personal ethics to make me a better person to all I come in contact with.

A Harmonious Exemplification On the post anesthesia care unit at Miami Children’s Hospital, students and nurses alike witnessed a harmonious exemplification of the six competencies of Quality and Safety Education for Nurses, more commonly known as QSEN. The post anesthesia care unit, PACU, was off to a slow start just before teamwork between the preoperative unit, also called PREOP, the operating room, and PACU were put to the test. A 4 year-old, already extubated, female patient had come to the unit from the operating room, more commonly referred to as the OR. The OR nurse proceeded to inform the receiving PACU nurse that the patient just had an arterial line placed in the femoral artery in order to later undergo apheresis for cancer treatment. Upon performing an assessment, the nurse noticed that the patient’s pressure dressing was saturated with blood due to a hemorrhage. A team consisting of PACU nurses, the anesthesiologist, the OR nurse and students rushed to the bedside to assist in res training the squirming patient in order to keep her flat and still.
